Report on Business Magazine

Creating and maintaining the web site for Canada's preeminent business publication has been a formidable task for the V7 team. User feedback, changing technology, and the magazine's editorial redesign have all contributed to an evolving web identity. Editorial integrity and accuracy are paramount concerns for the staff and contributors. We strive to reflect that same attention to detail on the site.

  • Design, layout and publish monthly web magazine to coincide with print issue
  • Repurpose Quark-based print design to HTML pages
  • Develop CGI/JavaScript code to track click-throughs on advertiser's guide service page
  • Backup and ensure the integrity of archived content
  • Integrate special features including the annual Top1000 and advertorial material
Timing is the major hurdle we face each month producing this web site. After the print magazine has been put to bed, we work quickly to adapt the content for the site. Feature stories are usually broken into multiple web pages and images resampled and compressed for the web.

With two years of material in the archives we are currently working on a new navigation and search interface to surface this content for a technically savvy readership – over 80% of its users are using level 4 or later browsers.
